More than 80 Years of KurarayKuraray was established in Kurashiki, Japan, in 1926, and was originally involved in the industrial production of synthetic fibers out of viscose. The company carried out intensive research and development work, creating a broad base of experience and technology in the sectors polymer chemistry, chemical synthesis, and chemical engineering. Thanks to its technological strength and comprehensive experience, Kuraray has been able to develop highly innovative products for many more selected fields of business.Kuraray develops and produces today a broad range of high-quality and innovative products. The product line ranges from synthetic plastics to fine chemicals, non-woven textiles and synthetic leather to laser discs and medical supplies. Known brandsAn entire series of product developments from Kuraray has become leading brands worldwide, e.g., “KURALONE” on a polyvinyl-alcohol base, the polymer based “POVAL”, the polyvinyl alcohol copolymer “EVAL”, synthetic leather with the brand name “CLARINO”, and fine chemicals on an isoprene basis for perfumes, pharmaceutical products, and other special applications.Today, the Kuraray Group, consisting of Kuraray and its consolidated companies has about 7,000 employees. Entry onto the dental marketIn 1973, Kuraray entered the business field of dental materials. The objective in this segment is to respond to requirements of dental practice precisely and carefully – with products which convince users by their reliability and high quality.Inventor of the bonding systemIn 1978, Kuraray introduced the first bonding system to the market: CLEARFIL™ BOND SYSTEM F, the start of the age of adhesive dentistry. At the same time, the company developed the “total-etch technique” for enamel and dentin. Today, more than a quarter of a century after entering the field of dentistry, Kuraray continues to steadily produce innovative quality products which meet the requirements of a profession which also develops constantly.
